The Special Agents will discuss the FBI’s involvement with cybercrime in the Charleston area and their InfraGard organization.

InfraGard is a partnership between the FBI and members of the private sector. The InfraGard program provides a vehicle for seamless public-private collaboration with government that expedites the timely exchange of information and promotes mutual learning opportunities relevant to the protection of Critical Infrastructure. Prior to that he worked at Arnett & Foster, an accounting firm in Charleston where he did extensive work consulting with major medical facilities throughout the state. He has also been the Vice President and CIO of West Virginia Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In addition, he has worked as a consultant covering information systems and security for the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency and the West Virginia Health Care Authority. He has extensive work in the area of security, both from the software as well as the hardware side. His talk on security surrounding the Internet of Things should be very informative.

Professor Thompson graduated from Marshall University Graduate College with a degree in MIS. He has worked at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College as an IT instructor for the last 18 years teaching a wide variety of classes in the field of technology.

National Weather Service and FAA Certified Weather Observer with 22 years of experience for Yeager Airport in Charleston WV. FAA Part 107 Licensed Drone Operator, amateur metal fabricator, and avid hot rodding enthusiast.

As the Director of Information Systems Security at Advantage Technology, I am charged with leading our Information Security Services team on behalf of our customers. We deliver a number of advisory services in addition to security compliance testing, awareness training, and other professional security services. I have nearly 20 years of industry experience in information security, with a strong background in security operations, applied threat intelligence, policy development, operational procedure development, incident management, malware research, network defense architectures, network penetration testing, intrusion prevention technologies, endpoint protection and analysis and counterintelligence control operations.
